In order to improve the motion stability of the heavy roller chain(GETECHAIN) and reduce the dynamic load, it is better to have more small sprocket teeth. However, the number of teeth on the small chain wheel should not be too large, otherwise, thus causing the heavy roller chain to fail earlier.
After the heavy roller chain works for a period of time, the wear makes the pin shaft thinner and the sleeve and roller thinner. Under the action of tensile load F, the pitch of the chain extends. When the chain pitch becomes longer and the chain wraps around the sprocket, the circle D moves to the tooth top.
Generally, the number of chain links is even to avoid the use of transition joints. In order to make the worn uniform and prolong the service life, the number of sprocket teeth and the number of chain links should be mutually equal. If mutual quality cannot be guaranteed, the common factor should be as small as possible.
The larger the pitch of heavy roller chain, the higher the theoretical bearing capacity. However, as mentioned in the above section, the larger the pitch, the greater the dynamic load caused by the change of chain speed and the impact of the engagement of chain links with sprocket, which will reduce the chain bearing capacity and service life. Therefore, the chain with small pitch should be selected as much as possible in design, and the actual effect of selecting multi-row chain with small pitch is often better than that of selecting single-row chain with a large pitch.
